Preschool Painting and Cutting

We have been working hard learning colors and mixing colors to make new colors. Painting is a fun way to mix colors.

I have been working on teaching Little Bug to use scissors. We have been practicing cutting this week. The photo looks like he has the correct idea holding scissors but he still can not open and close them with out some help.

We have not started teaching correct pencil grip. That is on our schedule this spring. If you know a good technique in teaching scissors skills please share with me. It has been ages since I have taught this skill.
I found a great website with a large selection of free to print cutting skill worksheets on Pinterest. Just select the pin below to get started.

Crafts and Arts Week

Happy Veterans Day.  I would like to say thank you to all veterans, their families and all service men and women serving now.  Thank you for your service to our country. With out your dedication, sacrifice and courage we would not be enjoying the freedom we have today.

We have had a very productive week. Pooh Bear practiced learning to write. We worked on drawing lines and matching shapes. We had lots of fun with painting and gluing this week. Pooh Bears favorite activity this week was to glue anything he could get his hands on to paper.

I hope you all had a wonderful and productive week.

Wordless Wednesday

I am not so wordless today!
We are painting shapes with sponges. I cut up a regular sponge into one large circle, one small triangle and one small square. I sewed the leftover edges to the sponge shapes to make a small knob handle to hold the sponge with.

Fun Toddler Painting

We are learning how to paint with a brush today. We are also learning the colors red, yellow and blue. My original plan was to introduce finger painting but Pooh bear did not want to put his hands in the paint today. We will try again later on this week.
