Preschool Painting and Cutting

We have been working hard learning colors and mixing colors to make new colors. Painting is a fun way to mix colors.

I have been working on teaching Little Bug to use scissors. We have been practicing cutting this week. The photo looks like he has the correct idea holding scissors but he still can not open and close them with out some help.

We have not started teaching correct pencil grip. That is on our schedule this spring. If you know a good technique in teaching scissors skills please share with me. It has been ages since I have taught this skill.
I found a great website with a large selection of free to print cutting skill worksheets on Pinterest. Just select the pin below to get started.

Our Color Fishing Game

This is how we made our game.  We cut out colored fish from construction paper and put a paper clip on the fish. The we taped  ribbon  to a craft stick. Then we taped a magnet to the end of the string. Now you are ready to go fishing.  This game requires supervision of small children. The string(ribbon), magnets, or paper clip may be a chocking hazard for small children.

Fun Toddler Painting

We are learning how to paint with a brush today. We are also learning the colors red, yellow and blue. My original plan was to introduce finger painting but Pooh bear did not want to put his hands in the paint today. We will try again later on this week.
