Wordless Wednesday

My first attempt at a gingerbread house. Pooh Bear love it.
He did not eat too much of the house he is not really a sweets eater.
He does like m&m. This was his first candy cane. I just love how he tried to eat the candy cane.
In the end he decided he did not like the candy canes or the gum drops.

Hand Print Gifts

Today I finished making a Christmas gift for my children. Last month I had the opportunity to secretly snatch hand prints of my grandchildren. All four grandchildren were over I set up some finger paints and while they were busy painting I got hand prints from each child.

I cut out the hand prints and labeled the backs so no mismatched prints were made.
I printed out Names and the date of the prints for each child. I then printed out a hand print poem. You can find many different versions on line.

I had to test and fit everything before applying the mod podge.

I did get more wrinkles than I wanted. As I was smoothing the paper wanted to tear. I decided to just smooth the  best I could and leave them at that.

Crafty Christmas Review/Giveaway: Kid Puzzles

Grandma Bonnie's Closet has been given the opportunity to review a Handmade wooden puzzle from Kid Puzzles.  When I was contacted by Kid Puzzles and asked to review a puzzle I  immediately went to their website to take a look around. I love wood puzzles and I have bought a few for my grandchildren but I usually worry about where they have been manufactured and have they been painted with safe non toxic paints. When I visited Kid Puzzles I was ecstatic. Here is what I learned.  Their puzzles are made in the U.S.A. from premium grade, maple-faced laminate, and  are non-toxic.

This is a little excerpt from Kid Puzzles Website.
"Since 1984 we have been dedicated to providing creatively designed, durably constructed, sustainably made and reasonably priced children's wooden jigsaw puzzles. We are committed to making puzzles that are non-toxic, lead & cadmium free, and safe enough for our own children to use!"

While looking around their website I came across some great information about the puzzles they make.  All the puzzles are hand cut making no two puzzle pieces exactly alike. So if I were to purchase two of the same puzzles for my grandchildren the pieces would most likely not interchange. They do offer replacement pieces in case of lost or damaged pieces. Just how they can replace your unique piece you will have to read here!
Personalized Wood Name Puzzle.

It's almost like having your name up in lights. I think a personalized wood name puzzle would be the prefect gift for any child just learning to write their name. You could also get a puzzle like this as a reward for a child who learned to write their name.
A Child's Puzzle Stool!
My grandchildren would absolutely love to have their own personal stool. No fighting over who's stool is who's!
A 3D Multi-Layer Puzzle
This is my personal favorite! I would love to give one of these to Tootsabella.

Pooh Bear had a chance to play with the number puzzle from Kid Puzzles. It was the first time he was able to put a puzzle together with out a lot of help. The knob on each piece was really helpful for his little fingers. The knobs made it easy for him to move the pieces around and not become quickly frustrated. The colors are bright and kept his attention for quite some time. Over all I really liked the quality and workmanship of this puzzle.

Now for A Crafty Christmas.
How would you like to win a handmade personalized puzzle? Just in time for Christmas! Life with Tootsabella & The Rose and Grandma Bonnie's Closet are hosting A Crafty Christmas Giveaway! Opening on December 1st! Stop over at Kid Puzzles and let us know what puzzle you like the best!

My honest opinion has been expressed in this post. The opinions in this post are
mine and have not  been influenced by monetary compensation.
A puzzle was given to me free of cost by Kid Puzzles.

Crafts and Arts Week

Happy Veterans Day.  I would like to say thank you to all veterans, their families and all service men and women serving now.  Thank you for your service to our country. With out your dedication, sacrifice and courage we would not be enjoying the freedom we have today.

We have had a very productive week. Pooh Bear practiced learning to write. We worked on drawing lines and matching shapes. We had lots of fun with painting and gluing this week. Pooh Bears favorite activity this week was to glue anything he could get his hands on to paper.

I hope you all had a wonderful and productive week.

Our Week

This week has been very busy. Pooh Bear and his parents set up an aquarium. We are hoping this will be a great learning experience for him. Well so far it has been a real learning experience for all of us. We have jumped in feet first and found that not all learning experiences are fun. Later on I will write more on our aquatic adventure.
Now on to our week in pictures.

Very comfy reading spot.

Practicing to trace lines.

We hope you also had a great learning week.

Sandpaper Letters Project

Hip Homeschool Hop Button

We made sandpaper letters this week. First I drew the letters on cardboard to use as stencils. After cutting out the homemade stencils. I laid them on the sandpaper to cut. Remember to place them backwards on the back of the sandpaper to trace the outline. Cut out the letters with old scissors or the sandpaper may dull a good pair of scissors. Then I glued the sandpaper letters onto construction paper that had been glued to cardboard.

We read some fall books.

We baked some apples.

We had fun in the fallen leaves.

Over all we got most of our planned work finished this week. We are looking forward to next weeks lessons.

Preschool Lesson: The Changing Seasons

I chose The Changing Seasons for our theme this week after Pooh Bear noticed the leaves changing colors and falling to the ground.  We will focus on Fall this week and Winter next week. We are reading fall books and painting with fall colors.  We will taste some apple cider and make a baked apple treat. Our letter of the week is B. Our number is 2. Our advanced concept for the older preschooler is before, between and after.

For our crafts this week we are decorating a pumpkin. We may also make some crafts with fall colored leaves that we collect on our nature walks this week.

We glued felt shapes on our pumpkins. This was a fun and easy way for a toddler to decorate a pumpkin. There was no mess to clean up and later we can use the pumpkins for pie and dry the seeds for a treat.
